What happens on Referral
Research suggests that a good therapeutic relationship between the Psychologist and client is important for a successful outcome. Therefore, all referral requests are reviewed by Christine O'Connor - Director and founder of Life Giving Psychology & Coaching - who will determine which Psychologist would best be suited to your needs. This information is then passed on to our friendly Administration Team who will contact you to make your appointment and talk you through the process.
Appointments are booked in advance based on your needs, as far as practical, and can include after-hours appointments. Referral requests are triaged according to urgency. If for some reason we feel you are not best served by our team, a referral to an alternative service will be made.
Your recovery is important to us and you can be safe in the knowledge that all members of our team will treat you respectfully, and your personal information will be handled with the utmost privacy and confidentiality.
Individual Therapy & Coaching
Prior to your first session, you are required to complete a pre-therapy questionnaire so we can monitor our outcomes to ensure we provide the highest quality service for everyone. On arrival for your first session, you will be greeted by our friendly Administration Team who will make sure you feel comfortable. You will then be accompanied by your Psychologist to one of the consulting rooms, where you can feel safe to talk about your concerns. The aim of the initial assessment (which often takes two sessions) is to build a strong, therapeutic relationship and to understand what is happening so a program of intervention can be identified that is personalised to best help meet your goals.
Our Psychologists draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, and these will be discussed with you to allow you to make an informed choice to continue. This collaborative intervention plan will be regularly reviewed and monitored to ensure agreed goals are being met. Standardised questionnaires are used periodically to monitor progress, and to ensure a high quality service.
